Smithsonian “Roots Music” Exhibit
To Visit Six Kentucky Cities
Henderson, Kentucky’s Riverbend Academy’s School of Visual & Performing Arts, in cooperation with John James Audubon Museum and the Kentucky Humanities Council, will explore various aspects of America's roots in music as it hosts the Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibition, New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music.

New Harmonies will be on view to the public in Henderson from May 3 through June 14.
In Henderson, the exhibit will coincide with two annual American roots music events, the Homegrown Bluegrass Festival in May and the W.C. Handy Blues and Barbecue Festival in June. More

World Renowned Artist Takes On Dr. Ralph Stanley
International portraitist Kenneth Hari, best known for fifty years of transforming images of world-renowned celebrities into masterpieces, has begun work on a portrait of Bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley.
The first sitting took place on April 10th.
Dr. Stanley's 24"x 30" portrait, scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2008, will be in the permanant collection of the Dr. Ralph Stanley Museum in Clintwood, Virginia and part of The Kenneth Hari Hitoric Portrait Collection. More
